Started Mixing bentonite and compacting the first 6inch lift.  Everything was going good until around 4pm, clay didn't have enough moisture content.  Compaction was well above normal but not enough water mixed with bentonite.  Tried to add water and scrap up what we could to get water down below where it needed to be, but we were unsuccessful.  Ordered a tiller for the front of bobcat from sunbelt in durham NC to be delivered tomorrow to help bust up the clay so we can add water and get it to  passing quality.  We were able to get a full 6inch lift done today and passed.  Recovered the pond and all the clay to ensure no weather or anything else gets to it.

Set up 2 more rooms at MIcrotel Hotel in Chapel Hill for guys. Picked up Bertha from Johnson's Transmission.  Paid Bill for Gleens auto where they had worked on mixer for us. SOld load of Rock and Wood from School.  Sold Load of topsoil from office.  Talked to Larry this morning to make sure he had given Leigh all the information needed for the UNC job and to double check a few items on the Revised bid.

finally set up all equipment at proper locations.  Got all parts needed to get everything running.  Had to go to lows a few times to get parts to finalize set up for equipment.  Mark Had to go first thing this morning to get bracket made for Green screener.

Also picked up Blue dump truck from shop, and took it back to office.  picked up little chevy and loaded scaffolding in the back to haul to UNC job.

Found out there was an issue with the slope on the Effluent storage basin pond.  Slope was 2 to 1 when it should have been 3 to 1.  We put some of the screen dirt that we had already prepared for the clay liner, in the pond to fix the slope issue.  Also had to compact the dirt to proper compaction.

Received Bobcat, and both tampers around 4pm from Neff Rental.

October 8, 2013

Everyone met at school early in the morning to transport all equipment to UNC job.  On the way up to UNC, the hub on the green screener had broke and had to go find a shop to fix it.  Also while we waited on it, Belt on Berta broke and took it out of commission, so we had to haul it back to the office on a trailer.  WE had to bring forklift from UNC job to the screener to help lift it up to be able to get the tire on and off.  Once we were done we took forklift back, took screener to job site, and then headed back home with bertha. When we got to job site we unloaded equipment and unloaded Bentonite.  Did not start any work due to weather.  Also when we arrived we noticed screener and machines had been moved, and the hole where the clay was dug out was back filled on the little pond.  Also someone had used our dozer for 14.2 hrs since the last time we had been there.  Don with Mckim and Creed confirmed that it was used. Henry also talked with Don about elevation on the little pond and how it was not right.  Don said he would contact everyone in the morning to go over the issue. Henry and Kevin went to farmers house to discuss how and when we would start hauling clay.  Decided to take track hoe from office and screen to his farm to screen clay before he hauled it to job site, due to limited amount of room on site.

Had to get torch so we could cut it out tomorrow morning. Paid taxes on purple dully, paid insurance for vehicles and got tags for dully. Talked to Jason Aycock from mid-atlantic about how he was saying we didn't communicate well and how he may not be able to get 100 percent of the change order and how everyone is asking if they need to find someone other than TSI to do the work. A lot of it was a repeat conversation of what Larry had emailed and what has already been said to him about the bentonite and everything else.
